A Joomla user is an account for a person or a service participant. It contains an identifier, login details, preferences and group memberships.

How capabilities are assigned

After login, Joomla calculates access through groups and ACL rules. Registration alone does not make someone an administrator. Viewing restricted content and performing editing actions are governed separately.

Managing accounts

Administrators can create or block accounts, assign groups and review authentication settings. Give Joomla editors individual accounts with the permissions they need. Shared logins make activity attribution and access removal harder.

Regularly review active Joomla accounts and privileged groups. Passwords and multi-factor authentication protect login, while ACL limits the actions available after login.
