The Joomla Media Manager uploads and organises media files. It also helps editors select images for articles and other site elements.
Storage and operations
The images directory is used by default, while available storage locations depend on configuration and filesystem plugins. Joomla Media Manager supports folders, uploads and available editing operations. Allowed file types and upload sizes are limited by CMS and server settings.
Practical checks
Use meaningful filenames, suitable dimensions and alternative text when inserting images. Before moving or deleting a file, check links in Joomla articles and modules, which may still reference its old path. The media directory often contains extension assets and is not the same as the user image library.
Joomla Media Manager simplifies file handling, but permission to write to a media library does not automatically grant permission to publish articles.
