A Joomla text editor helps authors enter article content and other text fields. Visual editors and source-code editors support different editing methods.
Available editor types
TinyMCE provides visual editing. CodeMirror displays source code with syntax highlighting and is not a visual editor. No Editor mode allows direct input. JCE is a separate Joomla extension with its own features.
Why HTML can change
The selected editor, its profile and Joomla text filters may remove or transform markup. Toolbar buttons and allowed elements depend on configuration and user groups. Check complex HTML after saving and on the public page.
Choose a Joomla editor that fits the author’s work. Verify the resulting HTML and content accessibility, not just its appearance inside the editing form.
