A Joomla language override replaces a language key’s value with custom wording. It changes interface labels without editing core or extension files.
Selecting the string
In Joomla Language Overrides, choose the language and client: site or administrator. Find the key or text, then enter the replacement. Different languages require their own values.
What is not translated
An override applies where that key is rendered. It does not change article text or create a translated content record. After saving, check the target Joomla page, active language and cache. A similar-looking string may belong to another extension or client.
Use Joomla language overrides for local wording. This is more resilient to updates than editing the original INI file.
