Pagination divides a list into pages with navigation between them. Joomla uses it in article categories, directories, search results and administrator tables.

Reliable pagination

List pages need accessible URLs and understandable navigation links. Record order should remain predictable. When sort values are equal, an additional stable criterion helps prevent items from repeating or disappearing between pages.

Check the current page after changing filters or page size. A shorter result can leave the previous page number outside the available range.

Pagination in Joomla

After configuring Joomla, test the first, middle and last pages, empty results and filter preservation. Check keyboard access, current-page indication and disabled navigation states.

Pages containing different records should not automatically be declared duplicates of page one. For Joomla lists, check canonical URLs and crawlable navigation. Load More buttons and infinite scrolling also require attention to addresses, history and discovery without a crawler clicking controls.

Conclusion

Pagination should preserve access to the whole list. Stable URLs, ordering, filters and navigation determine its reliability.
