A Joomla menu item is a navigation record linking a site address to a component view or another destination. It also supplies page display settings.

What a menu item controls

Its type selects an article, category blog, contacts view or another output. A Joomla menu item can define page headings, metadata, language, access and template style. Some types are separators or external links.

Menu items and menu modules

The menu manager stores navigation structure, while a menu module displays it. A published Joomla menu item can participate in routing even when its module is not shown. Module page assignments also commonly use menu items.

Check the target view, parent and language. Changing a Joomla menu alias or hierarchy can change page addresses.
