Description

Article Alternative Link is a Joomla system plugin that allows you to assign an alternative URL to any article.

After installation, an “Alternative Link” field is added to the article editing form. When this field is filled in, links that would normally point to the standard Joomla article page are replaced with the specified URL.

This is useful when an article is used as a list item, teaser, or announcement, but clicking it should take the visitor to another page, another Joomla component, or an external website.

The plugin supports external URLs, relative URLs, and Joomla internal system URLs such as index.php?option=.... Internal system URLs are automatically processed by the Joomla router and converted to SEF URLs.

Key features:

  • Alternative Link field in the article editing form;
  • replaces article title links;
  • replaces Read More links;
  • handles other links pointing to the article;
  • redirects the default article URL to the alternative destination;
  • supports external URLs;
  • supports Joomla internal system URLs;
  • automatically converts internal URLs to SEF URLs;
  • integrates with Joomla's standard inline help system;
  • stores alternative links separately from the Joomla content table.

If no alternative link is specified, the article behaves normally.

What I love about working with the guys at Joomla Center, besides their excellent knowledge of their craft, is their patience and politeness. No irritation at stupid questions, no arrogance, no eye-rolling, no heavy sighs. On the contrary, they explain things very politely and clearly, give recommendations, do things quickly and competently, and if something goes wrong, they'll fix it just as quickly. Five stars on all counts! As they say now, I'm hooked!

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Joomla Center team for their professional assistance! After my site was hacked, their specialists quickly identified and eliminated all the consequences of the attack, patched vulnerabilities, updated the software, and restored the site to its original state. I was especially pleased that the work was not only done efficiently but also with detailed explanations of all the steps taken.
